delicious is now easier to spell
I've always wondered about the strange name, so with this assignment, I satisfied my curiousity about it; after Yahoo bought del.icio.us from developer Joshua Schachter for between US$15 million and US$30 million (!) it was redesigned, and (sadly) renamed. Its easier to spell, sure, but knowing its owned by yahoo sort of takes the "romance" out of it, y'know??
I had fun playing around with the bookmarks after my initial struggles with trying to create a user name / login combination that the site would accept. I don't have any more room in my brain for more usernames! I've done some tagging with Flickr, and I liked how this site offered suggestions.
I was disappointed, though, that delicious did not find the website of my local paper, newhamburgindependent.com yummy enough to allow me to bookmark it. Or IBistro, which I use a lot. So there are limitations. Your little website of choice may end up being a crumb on the web2.0 floor.
That's all I'm doing tonight. Oh yes, I guess I can add some labels (tags) to this post too before I go.
Happy Thanksgiving (burp).

You should be able to bookmark any site you like. You can "post" it (using the URL) on the delicious site, or "post to delicious" in your toolbar. Leave no site unbookmarked!
OK. As soon as I rediscover my identity on delicious (see today's blog) I'll try that.
Unfortunately, Delicious is just a database...and like all databases it has limitations and parameters. It would be lovely if it could seamlessly crawl the entire web.
As for your user name troubles...there is no shame in using the same password for all your accounts nor is there any shame in writing them all down somewhere for quick reference! Trying to remember all those passwords would certainly drive me to insanity! I have all mine written on a sheet of paper, stashed away with my other notes for this course.
If you would like an easy way to create a user name that is easily accepted and not already taken by someone else try using your first name, middle initial, and last last 2 digits of your phone number. E.g. jennyr98. If the password requires special characters then add and exclamation point at the end. That combo should get you through any password woes.
Hope that helps,
Jenny.
